About The Institute
“The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani is an all-India Institution declared as
deemed to be university”, established under Section 3 of the UGC act. The primary objectives of
the Institute are to provide and promote education and research in the fields of Technology,
Science, Humanities, Industry, Business and Public Administration. BITS Pilani University has got
four campuses at Pilani, Rajasthan, Dubai, Goa and Hyderabad. BITS Pilani K. K. Birla Goa
campus has been functioning since Aug 2004. It offers various first degree, higher degree, PhD
programmes in Engineering, Science and Humanities. The Institute has developed state-of- the-
art laboratories and other research facilities and “has faculty balance of young as well as
experienced members”.
About Department of Chemical Engineering
The Department of Chemical Engineering at BITS Pilani K K Birla Goa Campus was established in
2004. Over the years, the Department has diversified into several research areas like process
system engineering, materials and nanotechnology, energy and environment engineering,
biochemical processes etc. The Department has faculty with rich experience and takes pride
in exhibition of laboratories build through in-house infrastructure-support grants and
extramural research grants from various funding agencies (DST, DBT, ABG, CHT) as well as
industry (GAIL, Thermax, BPCL). The Department has established and continuously growing
rapport with industry by way of research & consultancy projects and continuing education
courses (WILP).
