Two Days' Workshop

December 21-22, BITS-Pilani Goa Campus

PROCESS MODELLING AND SIMULATION

About The Workshop

This workshop is aimed at providing to the working professionals and academicians with the platform to enhance their process knowledge by way of modeling and simulation of the process under study. Such understanding will further help them to predict performance of the process, energy requirement and pollution load. This workshop will primarily focus on concepts in process modeling & simulation and hands-on training of Aspen Plus process simulation software.

Aspen Plus is advanced process simulation software used by the bulk, fine, specialty, and biochemical industries, as well as the polymer industry for the design, operation, and optimization of safe, profitable manufacturing facilities. Aspen Plus enables users to:

  • Optimize processing capacity and operating conditions,

  • Improve equipment design and performance,

  • Identify energy savings opportunities and reduce environmental emissions,

  • Reduce costs and improve product quality,

  • Perform economic evaluation to realize savings in the process design.

The objective of the present workshop is to make professionals familiar with the basics of modelling and simulation and hands – on sessions on process modelling software. The following aspects of process design will be covered:

  • Concepts in  process modelling and simulation

  • Modelling of reactors, distillation column, heat exchangers and other related equipments

  • Utilizing ASPEN Plus output for estimating process economics as well as environmental emissions.
